On 25 September 2015, the United Nations adopted 17 Global Goals to end extreme poverty and build a better world by 2030. Ever since then I have been unable to get it out of my head. I have read it over and over and let it sink right in. I challenge anybody working in a university to understand what the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals will mean, and then not have it profoundly affect how they live.
Today’s university students are tomorrow’s world changers.
UK universities really are at the heart of the solution but this is going to take so much more than just the battle cry “OK team, let’s recruit enough students to hit our enrolment targets for 2020 entry"!”
After the indecent scramble in recent years as plenty of HEIs adjusted just how high some applicants have to jump to clear the bar, the dust is beginning to settle.
Universities are starting to see that to solve the world’s most intractable problems, they need to attract, appeal to and enrol some very special students.
We have made it our purpose to support Goal 4: Quality Education: “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.”
We have also helped many UK HEIs and APs to find their unique voice and communicate at a level that cuts through the ‘marketing speak’ of most university recruitment comms plans.
How is your university recruiting the right students to meet the needs of the next generations?
I would love to know if you have an opinion. You surely do?
